Samsung is now officially on a roll. The company has so far remained the most successful brand in terms of mobile display business. Still, it is not enough for the company. 2018 was widely regarded as the year of foldable smartphones, but it is now apparent that the company is going to surprise us all with something more than just the unusual.
Samsung has just recently filed a patent for roll-able display. Such a display can be activated through the fingerprint. This will be using the very small rotating motor, which is totally unlike the roll-able display featured by LG. Samsung will, on the other hand, be featuring the magnets, which will be placed on the main body showing the display.
This patent also shows the metallic bodies of two types, in which the roll-able display, which is pulled by the magnets, i.e. square and cylindrical. Both of these actually feature the fingerprint sensors, which in turn allow the users unfold the display through fingerprint sensor.
This concept however does not show how this technology will be actually used in the smartphone. Hence, it is still not clear whether it will be used by Samsung other than simply storing and reproducing the information.
