Samsung Becomes the Biggest Chip Maker after Beating Intel

Most of the people probably do not know about this reality that Samsung does make more money out of producing its famous semiconductors and display divisions than smartphones. Although the company has long been recognized a market leader in smartphone industry, but now Samsung has also started leading in semiconductor business.

When we analyze the sales figures for last quarter, we see that Samsung earned the operating profit of $7.1 billion from semiconductor business whereas the sales were a total of $15.7 billion. In comparison to that, Intel only had the total sales of $14.8 billion with the operating profits of $3.8 billion.

This means that Samsung has certainly beaten not just Intel, but also shattered the 24-year legacy owned by the latter.
