Samsung has made the latest Galaxy Note 7 official but we have more interesting things to share for Samsung as far the future of its Galaxy edge series is concerned. This is as per publications of Chosunn Ilbo from South Korea. Samsung is likely to feature LG components in its next generation of curved handsets.
The Chosunn Ilbo reports that Sammy is looking for “2 metal chip-on film” manufactured by Innotek. This LG component attaches display panels to main circuit boards, with folding capacity, which makes it ideal for Samsung’s curved displays. LG will produce its 2 metal chip-on film on large scale in the second half of this year, so it might appear in Edge phones next year.
This would be the first time Samsung is relying on LG for foldable and better components despite of the fact that these are the biggest rivals in the tech industry.
The Chosunn Ilbo has purported that Lee Jae-yong, Samsung’s current chairman, says that only the best will survive in the market so we can’t compromise on components. As far as the customers are happy, we can.
