Motorola is likely to be in the multinational smartphone manufacturers very soon. Very recently it has jumped on to the Make in India bandwagon. The company is currently checking the feasibility to set up a production plant in India.
“Evaluation is going on… We will have news soon,” answered Marcus Frost, Senior Marketing Director Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific at Motorola, when asked about the company’s manufacturing plans in future.
The Lenovo-owned company is currently running two manufacturing units, one in China and second in Latin America. It once had a production unit in Chennai, India, but is now operationally disable for couple of years.
Samsung and HTC (reportedly) are confirmed to start production in India, and there are also reports that Sony is also considering manufacturing smartphones in the country.
