In December, 2014, Google talked with Indian officials regarding the potential problems of Project Loon. For instance, they discussed the intervention in local transmission and discovered the ways with which they can work with local telecos.

Last year in December, Sundar Parchai, also mentioned Indian market very important for project Loon. The 400 Railway Stations of India has been given the facility of free WiFi till January. Till the end of 2016, 99 railway stations will be given the free WiFi.

It is important to note that Google has not claimed that with project Loon, the facility of free WiFi is possible. However, it did mention that it will give internet facility to remote areas where installation of mobile tower is difficult.

Rajan Aanand said that the government is cooperating with Google for project Loon, as it is aware of the fact that 1 billion people still do not have access to internet in India.
