Google‘s VI Mike Cassidy has assured the Project Loon has started showing progress as the skepticism of people for the technology begins to disappear.

In October, the company partner with Indonesia with Telkomsel, Indosat and XL Axiata to give access to 4G trials in far flung areas of the region. India has been reported next in line to experiment this idea.

“The balloons have now flown almost 20 million kilometers around the world, some of the balloons have gone around the world nineteen times,” stated Cassidy. “And we’ve done complete interoperability tests with some of our Teleco partners.”

Cassidy said that the company will land 500 meters near target after releasing them for 10,000 kilometers. These 4G balloons will accommodate the download speed of 500MBs. However, Cassidy, did not announce when the project will be official and around.

Telecos including Vodafone, Telstra and Telefonica have also examined Loon and are open to the idea of balloon technology, which is referred as “low technology solution”. As it saves the costs of remote availability, it can bring latest technology to far flung areas.
