Apple not to increase iPhone Prices in India amid Custom Duty levied by Government

Such a move by Apple Inc. is really appreciable, because several other international companies are expected to reconsider their strategy for Indian market in order to make their mobiles more competitive in market. As the Indian government has levied 10 percent of basic customs duty on mobile phones and other electronics, it has however not yet specified this duty in case of certain accessories.

The Indian Government plans to further push this policy so as to extend its support to the local companies hence promoting the “Made in India” slogan. This move by Indian Government is expected to impact mobile phone manufacturers such as Apple and Lenovo and also the Indian manufacturers such as Micromax, which is yet relying on importing phones in the country. Analysts said that these companies will soon increase their phone prices to react the change.

But after that, we won’t find iPhones’ prices increasing again in the country. Apple took the Government’s move into consideration before cutting the price of iPhones, Apple Watch models and MacBooks.
