Oppo recently unveiled its sub brand entitled Realme . A clear intent visible in this move, was to challenge Xiaomi. With their latest model Realme 1, Oppo aims to deliver better value for money than the Redmi Note 5 from Xiaomi.

The Oppo Realme 1 features an Octa-core Helio P60 chipset with a 6 inch screen having an 18:9 screen-to-body ratio. It’s powered by a 3,410mAh battery. The device also sports a diamond pattern on the back which is found in its expensive counterpart namely the Oppo F7. It’s available in 3GB or 6GB of RAM variants.

The main camera on the phone has 13MP paired with an 8MP selfie camera featuring Face unlock capability.

Oppo Realme 1’s diamond cut finish on the rear is a stunner. It shimmers and changes colors from black to light blue under different lighting conditions.

Also available is the Solar Red color which captures the eye even more, as shown in the official photos.

Although Xiaomi’s device surpasses the Realme 1 with a bigger 4000mAh fast charging battery and a metal body. Oppo on the other hand only offers Face unlock. But the point to note here is that the Face unlock feature is lightning fast in favorable light conditions.

Users of these phones would be hard pressed when making the decision wether to use Xiaomi’s MIUI or Oppo’s ColorOS.
