Nokia has finally made an official claim that it is not re-entering the smartphone market. The company completely dismissed the rumors made in the light of its recent activities. Here is the full text of Nokia’s short statement:
Nokia notes recent news reports claiming the company communicated an intention to manufacture consumer handsets out of a R&D facility in China. These reports are false, and include comments incorrectly attributed to a Nokia Networks executive. Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets. The above statement is as straightforward as it is precise. It is significant to consider that under the contract Nokia isn’t allowed to manufacture phones till the second half of next year.
