Nokia 5 (2018) to be Released in Upcoming Months

  MPC Team

The mid-range Nokia 5 smartphone was announced more than a year ago by HMD Global and it appears that the company is getting ready to come out with the phone’s successor already.

The imminent launch of the new model was hinted in a tweet by HMD’s CEO, Juho Sarvikas. This was in response to a query regarding the 2018 version of the Nokia 5, he replied: “stay tuned”.

It will not be too big of a surprise though, if the company releases 2018 versions of all popular phones in the near future. The company’s Executive Vice President, Pekka Rantala, has already hinted that new models of the Nokia 2, 3, and 5 will eventually be released later this year.

Revival of the Nokia X and N Series

Although reporters may not see the phone in the company’s upcoming May 16th mega-event in China, which already has way too much on its agenda. The primary item among those is the revival of Nokia’s X-series.

Furthermore, there are also rumors of another older phone being resurrected in the near future from the legendary N-series. This move by HMD Global is yet another attempt to get the most out of the nostalgia-driven market. However, it is wishful thinking to hope that this phone will be unveiled at the Chinese event, too.

The new Nokia 5, though, whenever it is released will prove to be one of the bigger releases for its parent company. It shall be yet another step towards the domination of the saturated mid-range smartphone market.

Stock Android Version

When originally released the Nokia 5, along with Nokia 3, was the first Android phone running on a stock version of Android released under the former Finnish giant.

The previous version of the phone came with a 5.2″ HD display, Snapdragon 430 chipset and sufficient 3GB RAM. However, HMD will have to ensure that the upcoming model replicates the success of its predecessor.
