The recent rumors can be confirmed in the light of some other ones; the return of Nokia to smartphone industry in 2016. Now the R&D is moving to China indicating start of a new era. Nokia sold it business to Microsoft with not a clear clause of returning back but it did state that Nokia cannot start a business with feature phones within a decade.
Nokia used wisely these non-compete clause and brought forward powerful Nokia N1 tablet early this year. The President of Nokia China confirmed Nokia’s working on Android powered smartphones. The device will be manufactured in factories in Sichuan, China and will launch as early as 2016 while the Nokia’s R&D center will permanently reloacte to Sichuan, China.
