Microsoft after selling 15million feature phones is now working upon ending its Nokia business as per rumor from China. Microsoft is deciding to sell it Nokia business to contract manufacturer Foxconn. Under the terms signed with Nokia smartphones in 2014, Microsoft can use the name Nokia for its smartphones till 2024.
Currently the company is planning to sell off the Nokia division and prime reason are the losses. Employees will also be laid off after this agreement. Microsoft might cut off 50 percent of its mobile division jobs. The Surface phone, however, is doing well and if you see the pattern, the rest of the mobile business will be folded into Surface Line up.
Since the division has been sold to Microsoft, the company has laid off 18000 employees due to underperforming mobile unit. The total is likely to increase very soon, if the report is legitimate.
