The Finnish company’s to be partner will be expected to “take on the heavy lifting” in the process of bringing a phone to the market. This includes manufacturing, sales, marketing, and customer support for the device. Nokia on the other hand, will only chip in with the design and technology. This means Nokia is taking similar path it took with N1 Android tablet. The Tablet was manufactured by Foxconn under a Nokia license.

Nokia can only deliver a smartphone to the market is Q4, 2016 and not earlier than this. This is because, Nokia has an agreement with Microsoft from the sale of its Devices & Services business which prevents it from getting back in the business earlier.

Nokia tooka 180-degree turn from its previous official statement in April that states the company has no plans to enter the smartphone business. But last month the CEO hinted the intentions of company changing to re-enter making mobile phones in 2016.
