HTC has recently announced HTC U Ultra smartphone in CES 2017, which is a high-end phone with 2K display, and a secondary ticker screen, with an amazing 16 MP front-facer. The device was a flagship model with Snapdragon 821 under the helm, which concerned the fans for company’s 2017 next in line high-end.
In an interview company’s president Chang says that they have another offering in the pipeline.
“Every time there is a brand new CPU with power that we can leverage, we’re always at the forefront doing that. Some people are talking about the timing [of our release] but timing was determined 9 months ago. This is the best CPU out there. When the next flagship CPU comes, HTC will be one of the very first tier doing that.”
However, the company next plan will not be unveiled at MWC
He continues:
“When we will look back, it will be clear why HTC introduced [these new phones.] We want to have a couple of months of leadership before the next flagship CPU comes. But that will be in another period of time- not at MWC. Not for us or any other player. I can tell you that for sure. When the new CPU comes, HTC will have another flagship.”
Although Chang is not talking about Snapdragon 835 outright, it is referring to the processor that will be the high-end of 2017.
In the nutshell, we cannot confirm the news of any handset anytime soon. But there is no likelihood of HTC launching its handset before S8 release. You might put it after May and June. Looking for the big scoop on it anyway.
