Whatsapp last year announced in February and most of the people have forgot about it now.  According to the company the older devices does not have those features which is the reason.

The company states that

“By the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on some mobile platforms. This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp”

It is to confirm that BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 will all get extended support till 30th June, 2017.

Which devices will not work with Whats app?

• Devices running Android v2.1
• Devices running Android v2.2
• Devices with iOS v6
• Windows 7 phone
• Iphone 3G and 3GS

This is not good for some people who cannot afford the higher end expensive phones but this was done to ensure proper peer to peer communication. This will ensure the safety of the user from outside threats.  This is a message to the people using the old devices to upgrade their phones.
