Unregistered SIMs will be discarded from November 15.

A local newspaper has recently reported that Government Pakistan has officially ordered to discard SIMs that re unregistered and unverified. With the biometric process, if the SIM is unproven, it will be blocked starting from November 15. Telecom Division also informed that blocked numbers will only be restored upon user providing the original documents.

From October 16 Telecos staring re-registration of their subscribers by getting info through SMS.  This process will continue till 15th November and after that all unregistered SIMs will be blocked.

For re-registration, users of Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi, Airtel and Teletalkare required to type their national ID number, date of birth and full name and send it to 1600. Users of Citycell should type ‘U’ and then write their ID number, date of birth, full name and send it to 1600.

The final part of biometric verification will commence from 16th December. Fornow,telecomoperators in Pakistan are looking out for introduction of the biometric system that will start from  November 1 on trial purpose in their customer care centers.
