UAE will now be leading the World’s community as a first to hold 5G Auction in Expo 2020 Exhibition. Ahmad Julfar, CEO of Etisalat Group, commented on GSMA Mobile 360, Middle East conference on ‘Building Connected Societies’.

“We are ready to take the big leap into the future of the telecom industry with the UAE becoming the world’s first nation to roll out the 5G network.”

UAE will be the first to Auction 5G Spectrum.

Julfar further elaborated Etisalat will now officially change the Expo 2020 site being the first and keen district of the future. He also asserted that the operator has considerable ICT expertise in addition to digital value proposition. This is to offer end-to-end, accessible and ground-breaking infrastructure that will build leadership’s vision to cloud the ‘best Expo that the world has witnessed.’

Julfar also explained the transformation of Expo 2020 site to build Etisalat’s strategies that will help launching 5G mobile network in the UAE, which will be enough to host 25 million visitors expected to attend the expo according to report of Emirates247.

The Expo that is to be held in Dubai requires a world-class telecom system which will boost visitor experience and makes UAE the best in the world. Julfar while looking for growth and expansion and commented:

“The introduction of the 5G network will significantly enhance the standard of government service delivery and bring unmatched value to industry and the public.”

He added:

“Three key factors will catalyze the growth of the telecom sector: The low penetration levels in the fast-growing markets of Asia and Africa; the youth demographic in these markets; and the power of the telecom sector to leapfrog development and move entire communities to enjoy the benefits of the latest ICT technologies without carrying the burden of legacy systems.”

He concluded:

“A 10 per cent growth in broadband penetration can bring up to 1.2 per cent additional growth in GDP. Within the next 10 years, ICT-related activity will account for over 50 per cent of the world’s growth adding trillions of dollars of economic benefit.”
