Reuters has recently reported of Sony selling its Mobile Division. The troubled division will either undergo sale or joint venture with another partner. Despite the esteemed position of Sony smartphones among its competing brands, the Japanese tech giant is enduring $1.9 billion loss for fiscal year that ends in March. Selling the mobile hardware division is similar to what Sony did with Vaio PC unit last year. However, Sony is running successfully the imaging sensor and Play Station 4 operations to keep its head high among others. Sony’s CEO Kazuo Hirai acknowledged that “mobile and TV businesses both require a drastic overhaul.” Sony last year also planned to introduce fewer devices to earn some extra money out of them. Despite the odds in the mobile department, Sony is about to launch its next flagship at WMC in Barcelona.
