The rumors of foldable smartphone, allegedly dubbed Samsung Galaxy X, to launch by 2017 was making rounds online very recently. But the disappointing development is they might not.

Samsung will not launch foldable Smartphones anytime soon.

The Company’s President of Mobile division talked upon launch of Galaxy Note 7 that the company needs some time to finally launch foldable smartphone with 4k display. It is not the hardware production that is the major hindrance but software-wise the company should be careful about with foldable technology. He further mentioned, it will create “great ripple effect” in the market.

Moreover the President discussed that the company is currently focusing on phones with larger displays as majority of the market is seeking this trend. With the start of Note 7 sporting a larger display up to 5.7-inches, Sammy has finally realized the big things can work for longer in the market.

Talking about the foldable technology, it is important to consider that LG might be supplying foldable screen next year as per rumor. Thus, the previous rumors of launch could be true.  But will the production starts next year is still unknown. Currently we have no clue on the authenticity of rumors as there is no official statement on 2017 release.

However, if Samsung launches foldable screen, it could be a norm then onwards – as users are certainly looking forward to it – but it will be rather distant future.
