Samsung released SSD of 15.36TB size about two years ago. Now, it has released a new SSD with double the storage of the previous one and that too in a single drive. This new SAS drive is going to have the capacity of 30.72TB and is made with latest V-NAND chip.
This new drive will have the promising speed of up to 2100MB/s for sequential read and 1700MB/s for writing. In order to get such optimal performance, the company has used Through Silicon Via tech, in which the 40GB of DRAM is included.
This is essentially going to be an industrial drive, which will also provide the protection from any sort of memory loss in case of power failure, and ECC will maintain its integrity. As far as the durability is concerned, Samsung has stated that one can write about 30.72 TB of data.
Samsung has also started the making of initial quantities of PM1643 for which the price is not known yet. The same drive will also be available in smaller capacities later on, where each of them will be having the data of 15.36GB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB and so on up to 0.8TB.
