The hotspots will be available at bus stops, train or any other public spots. Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Shehbaz Sharif made this announcement at an inauguration ceremony in Arfa Software Technology Park.  He said that the Punjab government is also providing technology equipped laboratories in around 5000 schools. He also mentioned to distribute 50,000 tablets to intelligent students.

For this 250 wifi routers are installed in different locations in Lahore. The routers are installed in metro startups, educational institutes, railway and some other public places.

Sajjad Ghani- Director Information Technology said “If someone wants to use this service he/she has to authenticate their ID and mobile number and they will get a confirmation code via SMS and then the user can connect to the internet. Now this service is provided for useful purposes so internet connection will be time barred and this would also be decided that which websites should nor should not be accessible through this. We will definitely keep time and location logs for security purposes but for the privacy issues the user data and browsing history will not be stored and saved”
