BlackBerry PRIV failed to make a mark in the last quarter of previous fiscal year. The company managed to sell only 600,000 PRIV which is 200,000 below expectations that is 800,000 units. The quarter also reported losses for the sale of PRIV for the given period. Despite disappointment in performance, the CEO, John Chen, has expressed that the smartphone division can still work and show profitable results.

The Blackberry revealed its fiscal report last month depicting why the company failed to perform this well. The prime reason being the price which failed to justify the offering. BB found PRIV overpriced and even decided to cut down the cost soon after the release of report. The handset is now priced at $50 down which is still marked not the best for competing successfully in the market.

However, John Chen “truly believes” that the smartphone division will soon be profitable with more reasonably priced android handsets coming in. He did not reveal the hardware plans neither did he told how the handsets will differ from PRIV and rest of the market. Confirming the existing is enough to believe something is coming later this year.
