Telenor Vice President and Head of Easy Paisa Pakistan, Yahya Khan has addressed greatest pleasure on the current situation of Mobile Financial Services like Easy Paisa in Pakistan. This is a joint venture between Telecom operator and Tameer Microfinance Bank. He said that the future is bright and these services pose huge potential of Growth in the country.
Yahya Khan said that:
“Easypaisa has ambitions about making a push for Islamic banking within the realm of mobile financial services and branchless banking. However, we cannot comment on future products just yet, but we are very excited to be working on this front and hope that customers will be happy when these products eventually come out.”
He further added that:
“Easypaisa is all about social empowerment, and we seek to enable a new class of merchants with digital payments, not just the high-end stores that currently offer card-based payments, so don’t be surprised if your local “Dhabba” or “Sabziwala” start using Easypaisa retail payments.”
In addition to this 3G/4g Spectrum has also been the one with immense potential and unexpected growth in the region. He also mentioned other benefits of these services too.
- Easypaisais the first branchless banking service in Pakistan which actually started with the collection of traffic challan payments made by the bearer to traffic police department in Sindh.
- It has also collaborated with A2Z payments, which is an e-payments system for traffic challan issuance, verification and payments.
- We are also committed to complete the process of electronic issuance of tickets by 2016.
- In Karachi, there are more than 8,000 easypaisa retailer. We are now extending the facility to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PTA and State Bank of Pakistan are jointly regulating the system being developed by easy paisa and its beneficiaries.
