Huawei has recently launched Nova and Nova Plus in west. The company is looking to expand its product line for multiple markets. Like always, it is working on multi-layered products ranging from low-tier to high-end, and it is also working on convenience of purchase in west after conquering the developing markets of Asia. Huawei is undoubtedly a giant but is struggling to take over the world with its affordable and yet cutting-edge technology. The effort to introduce Nova and Nova Plus as mid-range line up for price sensitive consumers, Huawei has thrown a hefty pebble to shake down high priced market in the same category in west.
Design and Display
Nova handsets comes with full metal body making it one of the sturdy and best fit in hands. The rounded corners give it a premium feel. Overall, the handsets have appeared to be more of Mate clones design-wise with the layout similar for both as well. Display-wise, Nova has 5-inch screen and Nova Plus has 5.5-inch screen, which is prime difference, rest same. The panels are IPS LCD with Full HD resolution. When placed side by side, both displays are bright and crispy. However, they are not sharp. One problem you will find with every Huawei device, it is difficult to read in sunlight, Nova and Nova Plus holds the same dilemma.
Innards and Memory
For mid-range devices like Nova and Nova Plus, we should not expect considerate processor input though memory can replenish the entire handset when we miss agility. The company deploys the very competitive Snapdragon 625, a powerful midrange device built on 14nm process, delivering greater performance. If we see the handsets memory-wise, they are one step down from industry leading capacity 4GB RAM, it is 3GB. Here will go a multitasking that is seamless and provides best experience with HD and high power running games.
Camera and Battery
Another department that differs in both handsets is rear camera. Nova has settle for a brilliant 12MP rear camera, that is provides 4K video support, while it has 8MP front snapper to capture selfies and carry on video chats. Nova Plus on the other hand gives us heftier resolution 16MP with OIS. There are interesting features like HDR, panorama and Beauty mode. Then there are slow motion mode, Good Food Mode and professional mode but we still worry about Huawei camera working in poor light conditions. The batter for making life of handset possible is 3020mAh and OS will be Marshmallow, we still don’t know whether you will be upgraded to Nougat or not.
Grab the Nova if you are big fans of Huawei mid-range affordable offerings.
