Google and HTC have officially announced about a new deal that they have reached mutually. Google will pay $1.1 billion to HTC and in exchange to that the company will get some of the employees of HTC and will also get the intellectual property rights of HTC.

This means something significant for the future of HTC and Pixel smartphones line up. Some employees of HTC, most of whom are already working with Google for developing the Google Pixel smartphones, will formally get permanently employed by Google.

In addition to that, Google will also get the access to the intellectual property so far owned by HTC as a part of this deal. This will be a non-exclusive license. This would further mean that Google will get access to the manufacturing patents of HTC and will adopt them as the future designs for its Pixel series.
