Customers who fall under unlimited data plans would be receiving 50GB of data each month before a possible reduction in the speed. T-Mobile is the third player in wireless internet industry after AT&T and Verizon. The company had warned before that if the user consumes 32GB each month, download speeds would be reduced. Now, according to the announcement on Tuesday, Threshold has increased to 50GB for a month.
The new rule applies from today. All the mentioned wireless carriers offer unlimited talk, text and data plans but when user hits a certain limit, his data speeds slow down. Verizon and AT&T data limits for a month is 22GB.
T-Mobile made it clear that this rule would affect only the top 1% of the data users.
“When T-Mobile customers who use the most data hit these prioritization points during the month, they get in line behind other customers who have used less data and may experience reduced speeds,” said in a blog post by the company.
