Amazon has finally launched the redesigned Kindle App for both Android and iOS today. The most important change in the updated app is the UI redesign, which will provide a new option of a light or original dark theme. There will be larger book covers and the users will get a shortcut to the book they last read in the bottom bar’s center. There will also be given a link to the store below there for buying the new books.
However, the user would still not be able to buy the books from within this Android or iOS app, as Amazon does not want to pay 30% of its share to Apple. Hence, the user will be redirected to Amazon website for purchases. However, this is different in case of Android, where the user will be able to purchase the books right within the app.
Another great feature added in the updated version is the Goodreads integration. Through this feature, the users will be able to discover as well as discuss the books with the other users who are subscribed to Goodreads, and this will be done within the Kindle app. However, this feature will be dependent on the location of the user and will be only available for now in iOS.
The app is currently available for download in both iOS and Android.
