WhatsApps has planned to discontinue its services for BlackBerry by the end of this year. The company officially announced it in a blog post that it will discontinue on BlackBerry devices including BlackBerry 10. The company also revealed that it will discontinue it services also for Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1 and 2.2, and Windows Phone 7.1.
The blog post revealed that:
“The devices don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future. This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.”
WhatsApp currently has 900 million users with messaging rate of 10 billionevery day. As perGarnter’s recent research, BlackBerry remained dominant with more than 70% of the smartphone market seven years back, now it has less than 1%.
There are 10 months to go before the final withdrawal of the service from the aforementioned devices. If you are still using the above mentioned devices, this is the right time to switch to new ones where more social networking platforms are available.
