While considering the application of removal of restriction of 5 SIMs per CNIC by CMPak (Zong), the supreme court of Pakistan has finally given its verdict on the matter. It goes in the favor of Zong as now every user can keep at max. 3 data SIMs and 5 Voice SIMs.PTA was also a partner in this hearing which maintained that as the SIMs, old or new,

can now be biometrically verified, customers should be allowed to carry more than 5 SIMs on the same CNIC. PTA said it won’t have any issues with the 5 SIMs or more but the law enforcement agencies might get bothered by these developments. Even PTCL is allowed to issue three data SIMs as per policy that will be defined after this ruling.

While speaking on this decision Niaz A. Malik, Deputy CEO CMPak (Zong) commented:
