  MPC Team

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has ratified the ‘Mobile Devices Identification, Registration and Blocking Regulations, 2017’ through which it will ensure that all the illegal, stolen and duplicate or non-standard mobile phones will be blocked with immediate effect in Pakistan.

Based on this new regulation, PTA will establish the DIRBS (Mobile Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System) for making sure that all the non-compliant mobile phones are not sold, imported, connected to other SIM or marketed anywhere in the country.

The purpose of this move has been to protect the mobile users’ data in the country.

This regulation will also make sure that such phones could be actively identified through mobile licenses on their networks, and industry-wide database is maintained and updated through information about these phones for the general advantage and good of the worldwide mobile phone market and sector.

The DIRBS is these days being installed, and it will have essential software and hardware for implementing the system for thorough and comprehensive analysis.
