The rumors have just materialized regarding Xiaomi upcoming smartphone. This time the manufacturer is skipping a number in the naming convention and has decided to name their next flagship as Mi 8. As is often the case, this information was first confirmed on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo. Xiaomi also announced that the final launch date of the phone will be May 31. Another important purpose of the transition from the Mi 6 flagship phone to the newer Mi 8 is to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the company. So the digit 8 will not only be representing the next model number and the 8th anniversary but also the last digit of the year of release i.e. 2018.
An earlier leak, which mpc.com.pk shared with its users, indicated that the Mi 8 will feature a 6.01” screen with a wide notch on top of the screen which will be housing in-house 3D sensors for face unlocking.
The chipset installed in the phone was reported to be Snapdragon 845 ever since December last year. The price of the upcoming smartphone is reported to be around €420 or CNY 2799 for the 8GB version.
Mpc.com.pk shall inform its users of the mobile phone price in Pakistan, for this model as soon as more news and updates roll in.
