It is reported that Apple is finally succeeded in achieving the incentive of tax concessions, which it had desired in return for assembling iPhones in India. The company had been trying to seek incentives from a very long period in return for starting an iPhone production facility in the country. However, Apple wants these concessions before beginning production in India, but finally they decided to initiate the plan with or without concessions.

Finally, Indian Government has offered that they will allow Apple to import smartphone components designated for use in domestic manufacturing tax free, it is said by the top government official on Tuesday. But, this offer is with subject to the condition that local value addition will increase over an extended period.

Within the set of tax concessions, Apple had firstly desired a 15-years tax holiday for all components that it would import for build up a manufacturing facility in India. A panel of ministries by rejecting that demand has offered them tax exemptions on those components which could not be manufactured in India and offered a phased manufacturing program. Apple plans to constantly increase local manufacturing in four phases, at 3, 5, 7 and 10 years but yet Apple has not commented on formally accepting the deal offered by the Indian government.
