South West Airline’s Airplane 994 was about to take off for Baltimore, that a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was found heated and emitting smoke, upon which, the airplane was immediately evacuated. When Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was sensed burning, the passengers and crew evacuated through cabin door. However, no injury was reported during the evacuation.
Even, the heating and burning of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is now not a new issue but it is important to note that it was a replaced handset.
The phone’s owner Bryan Green has said that it was purchased on 21st of September from AT&T, the black square on box indicates that it’s a replaced unit. As per Bryan, its battery icon is also green.
According to Bryan, the crew asked him to switch of the phone. He did it and kept in pocket. Soon after green fumes started coming out of the handset and he threw the phone on floor.
Also, he has always charged the phone with wireless charger. When, he was on the air plane, phone was 80 percent charged.
As per Samsung, it has to investigate Note 7 before giving concluding remarks on the incident.
Bryan Phone is currently with Louis Wale Fire Department’s explosion unit. US Consumer Product Safety Commission has started investigating the incident. Bryan has now replaced it with iPhone 7.
