Solid State Batteries to Replace Lithium-ion Batteries by Samsung

According to news reports, Samsung might get solid state batteries in 2 years. The company will start manufacturing solid state batteries in one or two years, leaked by anonymous executive from Samsung SDI, The Korean Herald.

First application of the solid state batteries would be in Samsung smartphones. However, solid state batteries for electric cars would be furbished till 2025 because of strict safety constraints.

Solid state batteries for smartphones technological level would be mature in 1-2 years, but it isn’t sure if the Samsung Electronics will use it in their smartphones or not, also warned by the anonymous executive.

Primary benefit of using these batteries would be lower risk of batteries to catch fire or to get exploded because they would be made from solid state rather liquid electrolytes. This is something which is getting Samsung attention after the Galaxy Note 7 havoc situation.

Mind it, Samsung isn’t the only company to work on this new technology, companies like LG Chem are also planning to produce solid state batteries almost the same time.
