Jazz becomes the sole operator to place bid for 3G/4G spectrum. They have got it at base price of $295 million.

The other telecom operators of Pakistan i.e. Ufone, Telenor, Zong have not shown any interest in this auction. The government was unable to attract any new telecom operator in Pakistani market.

PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) stated that this spectrum auction will take place on 24 May 2017. The deadline for submission has ended today. Only Jazz submitted its request in the form of application.

10MHz paired spectrum in 1800MHz band is included in the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMSA). Till now, there are no further details about it. According to Information Memorandum, if there is only single bid then there will be no bidding and hence, the license will be awarded to the sole bidder for the use of spectrum. However, government of Pakistan has the right to withhold the spectrum for future or award the sole bidder.

Jazz has endorsed new spectrum while disposing off Warid spectrum keeping in view that it is going to expire in 2019.
