The Government while explaining the reason of rejection said that this was decided after the detailed analysis by the security agencies and Ministry of Defense. As per officials the Google Street View is against the security concerns of Indian government.

“Security establishment got wary of allowing such image-capturing given that planning for the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai is believed to have involved photographic reconnaissance of targets by Pakistani-American David Coleman Headley.”

India is not the first country to reject Google Street View Proposal, Austria has shown concern over security once they were offered for Street View Business. Although it lifted ban for Google last year yet Google has shown no interest to reconsider this option.
