India officially denies to close any deal with Apple to for selling refurbished handsets.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook, recently visited India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to close deals on selling refurbished iPhones in the market and opening more Apple stores. In the light of soaring demand of iPhones in to be second biggest market, Apple is contracting with Foxconn for manufacturing iPhones in India at low cost. Moreover, the refurbished smartphones were also proposed with the view of average spending in the region.

However, Apple now has been officially given a rejection notice on the application of refurbished iPhones. While making the announcements, commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman commented, “We are not in favor of any company selling used phones in the country, however certified they may be.”  Indian ministry also rejected to exempt Apple from the list of companies that are strictly required to sell 30% of their goods in retail stores via local source.

Apple, however, aspired that opening more stores will raise brand awareness.
