Google Pixel are the first to get Android 7.1 update, giving features which are absolutely amazing like Long-pressing for icons that reveal list of shortcuts. For instance, the shortcut for Gmail app reveals a Compose button. Long-pressing the Play Store app will lead you directly to My Apps category.
The feature is currently on Google’s own app, and also Android 7.1 is coming with more optimized apps by developers, where shortcuts are common. The feature works when you place the finger on icon for long, until you feel a gentle vibration. The appropriate shortcut will pop up. Moreover, these shortcuts are present in app drawer and also on home screen.
Initially, it takes time to get used this feature, sometimes the calibration detect it as the users wants to move the app.
These features are very similar to 3D touch that was incorporated in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. 3D Touch responds to three different pressure type differently. iOS 10 directly share link with App store.
Google has currently rolled out beta version of the Android 7.1 Nougat for the older Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P phones, and the Pixel C tablet, as will the Pixel and Pixel XL.
