The smartphones these days have a lot of sensors. There is a light sensor to adjust display and brightness and extra microphones for sound terminating. There are accelerometers and gyroscopes to measure when you move your handset. Now Google wants to help kids play with these sensors and use them for experiments in science.
The recent Google I/O has released a Science Journal which is an app the conducts different measurements around you with just a tap of finger. The app is a part of Google “Making and Science” initiative. This will inspire kids that they can be maker or Scientist. The works to record data, develop graphs, and follow different experiments being carried out, and also forecast of the future tests.
Google has also developed a website to give you best data on how each sensor works , the kind of info it gathers and how to build extra things like wind spinners to gather different types of data.
Science Journal is free for everyone.
