Facebook is experimenting with Chat rooms in Messenger for Facebook Australia and Canada. Rooms is a built in board style of feature. With the help of this people can chat on different topics outside their social circle.

The Product Manager is of the view that people can chat about different topics due to this feature. In this way those of your friends who are not interested in topic will not bother to participate.

Despite Facebook Groups have been introduced but it is limited to only friends. So the Rooms feature will help you to go beyond friends and discuss topics.

The users can also make Private Rooms but the ones registering then will have to take permission from administrator.

We don’t know when this feature will launch worldwide but hopefully it will roll out to Australia and Canada soon after the experimentation.
