If you are dealing in technology, it has its pros and cons. The same is true for social networking website Facebook. According to Monika Bickert, head of policy management, Facebook daily receives one million User Violation Report. It is definitely a huge number to consider. This revelation was made on first-ever Online Harassment Summit at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Ms. Bickert did not given exact number explaining which of these complaints are serious and which are not. However, it did mention that there is fine line between “Hate Speech” and “Free Speech”. 80% of these complaints are outside USA and from different school of thoughts.

“You can criticize institutions, religions, and you can engage in robust political conversation, but what you can’t do is cross the line into attacking a person or a group of people based on a particular characteristic”

Facebook is dealing with an intensive diversification. The regulation are difficult as it is easy and for everyone. This is also adding fuel to the fire. The question arises what we need more, privacy, dignity or free expression?
