Cortana is now ready to replace Google Assistant

According to a latest report, with the new update to Cortana for Android the digital assistant app can replace Google Assistant (or Google Now) as the default smart AI on your device now. It can now get you through the process of linking Cortana with a long-press on the home button.

It will ask you if you wish to have it as your default app when you do it for the first time and once you agree, it will lead you to app configuration screen in Android’s settings.

You will then be told to change the default app for web browsing, for SMS messaging, and now in order to provide you with help with a number of queries instantly.

For now you can’t set Cortana to launch through an OS-wide voice command this way. Also, the app doesn’t work in landscape mode at the moment.

In order to have access to the setting, it is essential to have 2.8.0 version of Cortana for Android.
