Biggest OLED Plant is in the Making by Samsung

To increase the production of OLED flexible screens, Samsung is planning to set up a plant in South Korea. This would help in meeting the demands for in-house devices of Apple like the new iPhone 8.Stats are telling us that Samsung Display is selling 98% of the small and medium OLED flexible screens across the globe.

ET News, a Korean website, said that the new plant would be located at Cheonin and Asan, and the expected cost of construction is $1.75 billion. Cost for OLED fabrication equipment is $14 billion.

Samsung Display 6th generation OLED production line ‘A5’ construction has initiated. The production capacity of this plant will be 270,000 panels a month. The company is making an investment so that to get the total produce of two plants.

“This means that each plant will have production capacity of 135,000 panels per month. If it wants to make such investment, it will have to make investments between $20.1 billion and $21.0 billion,” the news reporter narrated.
