At WWDC 2017, Apple announced HomePod which is very much alike Amazon Echo and Google Home in its core function. The device is equipped with speaker and serves mainly as a voice assistant to help deal with routine tasks, control smart home etc.

The voice assistants first come to mobile phones and then they made their way to our homes. Amazon Echo has made a big entry and Apple is trying to seek the same.

Nevertheless, Apple has Siri voice assistant on mobile phones but it left behind in the race of smart speakers. Its competitor Google launched Google Home last year, a dedicated hardware for smart home.

In September 2016, we heard that Apple employees are testing the working of Apple Speaker at their homes and now all such rumors turned true because the speakers are now entering the production phase.

Apple HomePod would be equipped with Apple’s Siri voice assistant. Expected date of release in UK, US and Australia is December 2017. Cost of the new Apple HomePod would be $349.
