Non-compliance of the VPN ad blocking apps with Apple’s App Store policy has made these apps being pulled down by Apple. The store will not approve any new updates of these apps.

Clearly mentioning ‘point 4.2.1 of the App Store Developer Guidelines’, these apps have violated the condition stating ‘apps should use APIs and frameworks for their intended purposes and indicate that integration in their app description’.

Apple was lenient to enforce its policies in the past as these polices aren’t new. That made the way for the boom of ad blocking apps to the Apple Store. Cupertino now decided to start a crackdown. The creators of Weblock and Adblock won’t be allowed to do updates to the App Store. Nevertheless, existing versions haven’t been replaced yet.

VPN installs certain certificates on the smart devices to block ads throughout IOS browsers which also include Chrome and Safari. Such VPN based blockers caused inconvenience to Apple.
