Anusha Rehman has given a bit of indication towards another 3G/4G auction in near future during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador H.E S. Babur Girgin yesterday. This is probably the first attempt from Minister of IT and Telecom to further test the potential of this technology within next six to twelve months.
She further informed the Turkish ambassador about the previously auctioned 3G/4G spectrum in 2014 and mentioned how successfully it is running in few cities, meanwhile, presenting the future expansion plans. “As market forces have already expressed their appetite for more spectrum, we intend to hold a next round of Spectrum auction in near future”, noted Ms. Rehman
Considering the opportunity Ms. Anusha Rehman also invited Turkish Telecom to grow in this industry. She also briefed the ambassador about one special lot of 850 MHz spectrum that government might offer to a new operator, which is definitely going to be a golden opportunity for new entrant in this growing market in 3G/4G spectrum.
It is more important to mention here that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is seeking consultants for this upcoming spectrum auction, however, no one has been selected in response to an advertisement that PTA published earlier this year.
