Warid has recently shown much interest in infrastructure of mobile internet and its LTE-rollout explains how keenly it is looking to expand and evolve the 4G market in Pakistan.

Considering a report which says that downside risk is its above-average ARPUs of Warid might get diluted after the company reaches value conscious rural areas. Abu Dhabi Group-owning Warid Telecom has prepared itself to invest USD500million in expansion and enhancement of its mobile infrastructure over the next five years.

Warid’s subscriber base reached 11.187million at the end of March 2015 which is down from a high of 17.887mn in June 2009, becoming the smallest of five players in a highly competitive and saturated market environment. In December 2014, Warid released 4G LTE technology, undoubtedly fortunate for Warid but an unexpected move in a market where much-awaited 3G services have only just been introduced.

Warid had 66,140 LTE subscribers at the end of March 2015, more than double as compared to the only other 4G operator, China Mobile-owned trading as Zong.
