Jazz has just released its revenue report for the first quarter of 2018 which shows revenue of 40.94 billion rupees. This amount is six percent more than the revenue from last year, which was 38.73 billion rupees. Jazz claims that this increase in revenue is the result of acceleration of mobile data revenue that increased by 34 percent Year-on-Year, during that period.

Jazz reports that its data revenue went up from Rs. 5.23 billion in Q1 2017 to Rs. 7 billion for Q1 2018.

Jazz said that the increase in data services customers due to the company’s higher bundle penetration and continued data network expansion, contributed to their data revenue growth

The Adjusted EBITDA for the company increased by 13 percent which amounts to USD 175 million in first quarter 2018 whereas compared to the figures of first quarter 2017 it was USD 154 million. Major factors included revenue growth, operating expenses synergies and the phasing out of costs for merger integrations.

The increase was also partially offset by a devaluation of the Pakistani rupee. The result was an increase of 20 percent with adjusted EBITDA

Jazz’s CAPEX figures grew almost 200% YoY to 7.3 billion rupees, in support of its 4G LTE network expansion.

Jazz also reported that its ARPU (Average Revenue per User) stagnated around PKR 232 although the average MBs used per month/per user increased from 464MBs to 821MBs.

By the end of the first quarter of the fiscal year 2018, Jazz reported 30.5 million mobile data customers in Pakistan, representing an increase of 16 percent from 26.3 million mobile data customers in March, 2017.

The overall customer base of the Company reached 55.1 million on March 31st 2018, indicating an increase of 5 percent from 52.5 million customers during the same period in 2017.
