Point of objection is that the Snap Map discloses the location of users without their consent. Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has warned about the potential danger the new update hold.
Snapchat is a social media platform where users update their daily stories. Snap Map will help the friends in the list of the user to locate him or her by using the latest update. The update will also release the geographical location of a user to not only his entire friends list but also to anyone around the world.
The map is interactive in nature and led the follower to check on any of the map points, scene or image without notifying user being checked. This could lead to potentially harmful encounters as privacy of individuals may get harmed.
TRA has suggested the Snapchat users to go to their app settings and go to ghost mode section. After reaching to that section, select ‘only me’.
